Tom has traveled America listening and learning.  His presentation reflect the joys and the challenges of achieving success. Tom will educate and entertain any audience.

Learning by Trial and Error, and Error!  Tom has proven that an audience can learn and laugh at the same time.  From being a "bench warmer" to becoming an All-American, a teacher/coach, then an auctioneer, and most recent a executive director of an association, Tom is either multi-talented; or he can't keep a job.  Either way, audiences enjoy his real life stories.

Charting a Course Toward Excellence!  Recounting the successes and failures of other is a great value to those who chart a course towards success, and just as important, bring to light the pitfalls one needs to avoid. Reaching one's goal or dream seldom "just happens." It is earned, it is achieved, it is a victory over a number of obstacles

Put on a Happy Face! Tell the truth now. Aren't there times at a meeting when you don't want to think? You just want to hear a few stories that will put a smile on your face. Your only "job" is to relax and enjoy. This is one of Tom's long suits!
EXPECT A UNIQUE PRESENTATION - NO TWO ARE EVER THE SAME.

Tom does a one-man antique road show. Those in attendance at a conference/convention are encouraged (ahead of time) to bring an item to be appraised. I have done this as a spouse's program , as an activity while other conference attendees are playing golf (or attending to House of Delegates business) or just as a fun activity.

Many people enjoy displaying something they have inherited from parents or grandparents. They tell the rest of the audience where they acquired their item, and I tell them its value and other pertinent information As with everything I do, there's an element of humor to this program. This program can last anywhere from 45 minutes up to several hours.

Meet Tom Bassett, CAE
Tom is president of Bassett Enterprises and resides in Lincoln, Nebraska. He is known by some as an entertaining speaker; while others know Tom as an accomplished athlete; and others know him as an innovative leader.
He earned his Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation in 1993 and was Executive Director of the Nebraska Dental Association from 1988 until 2004. He is now the Executive Director of the Nebraska Stroke Foundation. Tom is a former high school teacher and coach. He has a great deal of respect for educators and a slight fear of junior high students.

Brief Bio on Tom Bassett
  • Native of Hastings, Nebraska
  • Graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan, with a Master's degree from UNL.
  • Nebraska Wesleyan's first All-American in Track and still runs in Master's track meets throughout the U.S. (and the world).
  • From 1988 through 2003, Tom was the Executive Director of the Nebraska Dental Association.
  • Prior to his being an Executive Director, he was a Professional Auctioneer for 10 years.
  • He is a past president of the Lincoln Coin Club, the Husker Relay Club, The Husker Track Officials Club, the Lincoln Executive Club, the Nebraska Wesleyan Athletic Booster Club and a number of other organizations.
  • In 2003, Tom was the recipient of Wesleyan's Outstanding Alumni Loyalty Award.
  • In 1983, he conducted what is likely the largest antique appraisal in the history of Nebraska when he appraised Pioneer Village in Minden.
  • Gov. Mike Johanns appointed Tom to the Nebraska quarter design committee in 2002.
  • He has been entertaining and enlightening audiences with his brand of fun and philosophy since 1978.
