John first did stand-up comedy in a school talent show when he was only 9 years old and he has been making people laugh ever since. After graduating from college and working in radio for two years, a friend of his dared him to enter an open mic competition. He did it just so his friend would stop bugging him, won the $50.00 first prize, and has never looked back.
Since 1993 John has done nearly 3,000 shows for over a million people at comedy clubs, colleges, corporate events and cruise ships. "You know you've worked a lot of cruise ships when airport employees in Mexico say, 'Welcome back, Señor Floyd'," he jokes.
First there was Floyd the Barber. Then there was Pink Floyd. Now, we have John Floyd. Funnier than the former, a lot easier to book than the latter. Working with and for such notables as, Frankie Valli, Michael Bolton, Chubby Checker, Dave Chapelle, Martina McBride, Jamie Foxx.He has also performed for such companies as Hardee's, Wachovia, Met Life, Aetna, The United Way, The North Carolina Board of Realtors, The South Dakota Bar Association, Coca Cola and The Canadian Mafia(seriously) among others.
Floyd's southern charm and ability to see humor in almost everything makes audiences love him from the minute he hits the stage.
John has proven himself a professional entertainer capable of 'playing with the big boys'.
